The only producer of birch sugar of wood origin in Europe is Danisco Sweeteners - the pioneer of the most perfect way of obtaining birch sugar from wood, excluding the need to use acids. The xylitol we offer comes from this supplier. This variety is much nobler and is referred to as Finnish xylitol.
Xylitol is a natural sweetener that is increasingly popular among health and diet-conscious people. It is extracted from birch trees and has a sweet taste, very similar to that of sugar. Unlike regular sugar, xylitol has a much lower glycemic index and contains significantly fewer calories.
In 100 g of xylitol you will find only 240 kcal, while the same amount of white sugar is as much as 400 kcal. What's more, xylitol does not cause a sharp rise in blood glucose levels, making it ideal for people with diabetes.
Xylitol also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It prevents tooth decay because the bacteria in the mouth are unable to metabolize it, leading to inhibition of their growth. In addition, it is an excellent means of preventing diseases related to the digestive tract.
Xylitol is very easy to use, and can be used in the kitchen in the same amount as sugar. It can be added to tea, coffee, smoothies, cakes, desserts and many other dishes.
